The Causes We Support
Are Personal.
Sometimes, REALLY Personal.

National MS Society: A Family Affair
Where the Rubber Hits the Road

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurologic disease that attacks the central nervous system, hindering communication between the brain and other parts of the body. According to the National MS Society, there are nearly 1 million adults in the US suffering from MS—a few in my family are among them.

There is no cure. There is no recognized cause for MS. However, ongoing research provides treatment that can slow its progress and help relieve the effects of the symptoms. Eventually, the research may lead to a cure.

My sons and my brother join me annually on the “Coast the Coast” Bike MS® fundraising ride. Not only are we supporting a good cause, we are sharing a great bonding activity that’s become a family tradition. We are hopeful that our participation, along with the efforts of other volunteers and sponsors, will help fund the research that finds the cure.

Public Media:
Investing in a Culture of Civility

Supporting platforms that give a voice to emerging artists. Helping provide fresh perspectives and an unbiased view of the world. Ensuring children have free access to programming that helps entertain and enrich their development. Every little bit helps when funding the arts and culture.

WXPN is a nationally recognized leader in Triple A programming and the premier guide for discovering new and significant artists in rock, blues, roots, and folk.

PBS and member stations are America’s largest classroom, the nation’s largest stage for the arts and a trusted window to the world. In addition, PBS's educational media helps prepare children for success in school and opens up the world to them.

St. Jude Children’s Hospital:
Ensuring Kids Are Well-Treated

I was brave enough to fight and survive my own cancer battles. I can’t imagine the bravery it takes to help your child with theirs.

Fighting cancer requires tremendous support to overcome the challenges that can take a toll – medical, emotional, and unfortunately, financial.

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.

Vietnam Veterans of America:
Serving Those Who Served

My father and brother both served, so this is a cause that’s close to my heart. Even if you don’t have a personal connection to a veteran, you and your loved ones have benefited by the selflessness of their service.

Pickup Please coordinates free donations on behalf of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA). The operators of Pickup Please then purchase donations from the VVA, which uses the proceeds to fund the majority of its programs to provide critical support for America's veterans.

The Vietnam Veterans of America helps thousands of veterans every year. Donations make it possible.

VVA knows what returning veterans face. They make sure that those who serve our country receive the care and respect they have earned.

Teal Tea: Supporting a Foundation
Steeped in Purpose

Ovarian cancer, the “silent killer”, takes a long time to present, but early detection saves lives. That means awareness is critical. While 20-25% of cases are hereditary, an overwhelming majority of victims are affected without warning. The Teal Tea Foundation works tirelessly to generate awareness and raise funds for the research that will one day lead to a cure.

I started supporting the organization years before my own battle with cancer (read more about my personal story). Once in remission, my new perspective on fighting cancer drove a more passionate approach to the communications I created for the Teal Tea Foundation. We asked our audience to “See Teal” not only to prevent ovarian cancer, but to kick its ass.

The Teal Tea Foundation can use your help to support the cause, the victims, and their families. To learn more about the Teal Tea Foundation, visit www.tealtea.org.

Sayreville Marching Band:
Falling In Line to Support the Troupes

These talented, committed students work so hard at supporting their school, honing their craft, and proudly helping their town tradition of “Character and Commitment” march on. Both of my sons have a history of leadership as members of the band, and fundraising has been key to their activities. I salute their efforts by donating my time and talents to help the cause, whether its washing cars, collecting clothes, creating flyers and apparel or graphics for their show theme.
